IS is necessary in the production of radical tire as a kind of sulfurizing agent, the "3H" of high quality IS:high content(mass fraction of IS≥90%)、high thermal stability(105 ℃*15min the mass fraction of IS>80%,120℃*15min the mass fraction of IS≥45%)、High dispersion. At present, the domestic IS quality is instable, it could not come up to the requirements of "3H".In this paper, the main investigation is to how to increase the content and stability of IS. Firstly, the process for production IS was studied using a method of low temperature with normal sulfur. The effect of reaction temperature and reaction time on the content of IS was studied. Effects of extraction time, extraction temperature and the amount of extractant on the yield of insoluble sulfur by single factor test. Meanwhile, influence of the type and the amount of stabilizer time on thermal stability of IS was studied. Then, The new process is improved through low temperature method to produce IS——by atomizing the molten sulfur. The granular IS is produced. The results show that the suitable conditions of production IS are polymerization temperature 260 ℃, polymerization time 45 min; Application HNO3-FeCl3as quenching liquid; Using CS2 as extractant, the suitable conditions of extraction are at 35℃ of extraction temperature,50min of extraction time,5:1 of solvent ratio. Application SCl2 compound as the stabilizer of IS, the proper conditions of stability are at 4 hour of reaction time; Using water vapor as the dispersion medium atomizing the molten sulfur, the the content of IS can reach 44.81%, the thermal stability of IS can reach 46.88% under 120℃,the particle distribution of IS can reachl5.62%(particle diameter<9.983μm).The process for production IS was studied using a method of evaporating, The effect of reaction temperature and extraction time on the content of IS was studied, The effect of amount of CS2 and sulfur (Volume mass ratio) on the content of IS was studied, influence of the type and the amount of stabilizer time on thermal stability ofIS was studied, Meanwhile, the effect of particle distribution of IS was studied. The results show that the suitable conditions of production IS are polymerization temperature 650℃, Using CS2 as extractant,50min of extraction time,4:1 of solvent ratio (Volume mass ratio). Application SC2 compound as the stabilizer of IS, the proper conditions of stability are at 3 hour of reaction time; Using water vapor as the dispersion medium atomizing the IS, the content of IS can reach 61.34%, the thermal stability of IS can reach 91.84%(54.15%) under 105℃(120℃),the particle distribution of IS can reach11.48%(particle diameter<9.983μm).
