In recent years, multicomponent reactions have been attracting widespread attention from organic chemists. These reactions provide a powerful and direct approach for the construction of complex molecules from structurally simple and readily available starting materials in a one-pot process. This thesis mainly studies Co-catalyzed free-radical multicomponent reactions. This thesis composes with two major parts as follows:Firstly, Co(salen) catalyzed oxidative coupling of 1,3-dioxolanes with styrenes and electron-deficient alkenes. We have successfully developed a Co-catalyzed reaction involving the sequential addition of 1,3-dioxolanes to electron-deficient alkenes and styrenes with a high degree of selectivity using TBHP as an oxidant. This protocol is easy to operate and exhibits a wide substrate scope and a large application potential.Secondly, Co(acac)2 catalyzed oxidative coupling of α-bromo carbonyl compounds with styrenes and electron-deficient alkenes. We have developed the oxidative coupling of a-bromo carbonyl compounds with styrenes and electron-deficient alkenes using Co(acac)2 as catalyst and TBHP as oxidant Unfortunately, the yield of the desired product is low now and efforts of this work are currently underway in our laboratory.
