Modern society puts forward higher requirements on display technology. Flexible display technology, super HD display and 3’d display technology became the developing directions of new display device. Because the flexible display device has many advantages which traditional display device does not have, the application range of the display devices is greatly expanded, new products and develop new market areas can be even created, increasingly become the focus of attention. For example, flexible display technology can be used to produce thin storage type electronic paper, and widely used in wearable devices, and we can use roll to roll production mode which greatly increase the production efficiency and reduce production costs.At present flexible display technology which can be realized mainly include: reflective bistable cholesteric flexible display, OLED technology, and electronic ink technology, etc. Every kind of display technology has its advantages and its insurmountable difficulties. Bistable cholesteric liquid crystal display has many advantages, such as high brightness, high contrast, wide color gamut range, low power consumption and outdoor environment can be read, etc., but there are advantages, such as high driving voltage and the response speed is slow.The research of this paper is about reflective bistable phase Ch-LCD’s application in flexible display, more specifically is about encapsulate cholesteric liquid crystal molecules method and the production processes of flexible cholesteric liquid crystal display box. Because cholesteric liquid crystal is flowable, there will be a pressure point problem when flexible Ch-LCD device fold or bend occurs. The key to solve the problem of pressure point is encapsulate the cholesteric liquid crystal molecules. At present, mainly by emulsion and polymerization induced phase separation method make cholesteric liquid crystal micro capsule package, restrict the flow of liquid crystal molecules.This paper completed the preparation process of the microencapsulated cholesteric liquid crystal box by polymer induced phase separation method,and tested its electro-optical properties. In order to solve the problem of high driving voltage when cholesteric liquid crystal used in display device, test and analysis the cholesteric liquid crystal boxes with different friction strength and friction orientation type. This paper analyzed the influencing factors to photoelectric performance of microencapsulated cholesteric liquid crystal box, through the contrast group experiments. This paper provides some referential value for the subsequent further studies to solve the problem of microencapsulated cholesteric liquid crystal display.
