It discusses the synthetic gas SF6 (Sulfur hexafluoride) in the application of the insulation of the electric power industry equipment in the paper, and how the purity of SF6 will affect the life of the equipment when the SF6 is used as insulated gases. So with this background and the demand, â…  researched the analysis methods of the important components of the decomposition products from SF6, and separated the mixed components by gas chromatography. After testing different configurations, it decided two analysis methods. First one is PDD method, which detects the components by PDD (Pulsed Discharged Detector). And the other one is a combination method with FPD (Flame Photometric Detector) and TCD (Thermal Conductivity Detector). Their aims are the determination of qualitative and quantitative for the decomposition products of SF6. [1]Now the main contents of researches are following:The first chapter summarizes the function and the development of the SF6 insulation equipments, and its physical properties, chemical properties and physiological properties, and the cause and principle of decomposition during its working, and the chemical analysis method for the decomposition products. How to diagnosis the malfunction after determine the component content of the special decomposition products. After all the summarization, â…  concluded the significance of the subject.In the second and third chapter, â…  chose the detectors of the gas chromatography according to the characteristic of the low components of the decomposition products. Finally â…  decided PDD and TCD/FPD as the detectors after experiments. And there are the testing procedures of the two analysis methods. The leak tests are performed respectively, and I optimize the chromatographic conditions and the switching time of the valves. Finally, the two analysis methods are finished, and obtained the chromatograms of the standard components.Finally there is the expectation for the future, since the pure standard gas of the sulfide single component is very difficult to get, the qualitative determination can be realized by MS (Mass Spectrum), and it can determine the components of the decomposition products from the equipment accurately. And in order to get the failure predication in time, the analytical system can be developed by combining with the electric control and remote control system.
