High activity polyisobutylene is the polyisobutylene products which the end of the chain alpha double bond content more than 70% and the number average moleculer weight average between 500~5000 g/mol. This product not only contains all the properties of ordinary polyisobutylene products, but also has the better dispersion performance and lower temperature performance than the common polyisobutylene products, especially in the field of lubricating oil and emulsion explosive. In addition, HRPIB also can not be ignored in the application of cosmetics, medicine and food fields. Therefore, HRPIB has the broad application prospect.Firstly, the high activity polyisobutylene were synthesized, and the synthesis conditions were screened in this paper. Three boron trifluoride initiator system was used in this experiment, the effects of the polymerization conditions such as solvent, catalyst amount, reaction time and reaction temperature on molecular, conversion rate and alpha double bond content of HRPIB were mainly studied, and the optimal reaction conditions were obtained, it laid the foundation for the studied of the synthesis of polyisobutylene derivatives-polyisobutylene phenol. By infrared spectrum analysis of HRPIB, the obvious characteristic peaks the methylene C-H bond, C=C bond, CH bond of-C(CH3)3, CH bond of vinyl were found. NMR analysis showed that the samples contain alpha double bond.Secondly, the research of polyisobutene derivatives polyisobutylene phenol was mainly researched in this paper. The HRPIB as the resourses used in this experiment, and three boron trifluoride initiator system as catalyst, the optimum reaction conditions were selected by comparing the synthetic conditions. The polyisobutylene phenol was analyzed by the methods of IR and 1H NMR, the results showed that the polyisobutylene phenol was successful synthesized. And the influence of solvent, reaction time, reaction temperature, catalyst amount and monomer concentration on the high activity polyisobutylene substituted position were selected. The polyisobutylene phenol was studied by thermogravimetric analysis, the results showed that: the polyisobutylene phenol with high thermal stability, and the stability was significantly higher than that of HRPIB. By reading the literature, accessing to knowledge and a reasonable explanation for the experimental results was given.Finally, a detailed summary was carried out, and the development prospect of HRPIB was analyzed in detail, the possible development directions were enumerated.
