Tailing dam is a special mine industrial structure, failing accidents will bring incalculable consequences losing to enterprise economy, life and property of the residents,ecological environment. The tailing dam which lack of stability easily lead to dam accident,and the intuitive performance of the tailings be going to occur dam failure and landslide accidents is the dam displacement deformation. Therefore, study the stability of tailing dam and predict the change tendency of dam deformation is urgently needed to resolve the first issue of mine production safety. The main content of this paper as follows:(1) Studied the effects of tailing dam stability. First introduce composition and role of tailing dam, classification features, the security level of division, and tailing dam failure mode. Through the analysis of the factors on the tailing, the external environment, tailing stacking, and saturation line which influence the stability of tailing dam to reveal the tailings dam with dam become high and reservoir water level rise, the safety factor decreases gradually, reduced stability.(2) Tailing dam deformation is a complex and non-linear, which is difficult to be precisely analyzed and predicted with qualitative model. To solve this problem, an base on the adaptive variation and nonlinear inertia weight combination method was proposed to improve particle swarm algorithm. The above-mentioned improved particle swarm optimization was used for optimizing kernel parameters and penalty factor support vector machine to built a tailing dam deformation forecasting model based on particle swarm optimization and support vector machine. By using actual project data to verify the reliability of the model, the results show that dam displacement change tendency can be obtained faster and accurately in the short term. The model, which is conducive to keep abreast of tailing dam operational status, to improve the capacity of the intelligent analysis and early warning system, thus reduce the risk of tailing dam collapsing.(3) The tailing dam online safety monitoring system was researched. At the instance of the relevant norms designed a tailing dam deformation online safety monitoring system.and the structure, communication, equipment of the monitoring system was introduced.The node circuit of sensor was designed. Monitoring system software was developed based on VB, which can realize many functions such as data acquisition, data transmission, data storage, statistical analysis, display and management and others. The above-mentioned dam displacement forecasting model is applied in the monitoring system software based on combination programming of MATLAB and VB, which is conducive to provideinformation support for safety assessment on tailing dam, and is significant for tailing dam safety.
