Coast baths has a strong appeal to the tourists with its good water quality and beautiful surroundings, which can promote the development of coastal tourism. Nansha district has the best congenital condition for its special coastal location, but the previous coastal baths that takes water supply from Pearl River Estuary has been abandoned gradually because the water source has been heavily polluted in recent years, which influenced Nansha coastal tourism greatly. Therefore, the water supply is the essential problem to make good use of the local condition, and operating the costal baths with safe water quality and low cost. Developing the study of improving water quality of water supply has great practical significance. This study takes the water supply of Nansha costal baths to be built as study object. To explore the feasibility of redevelopment of Nansha coast baths from the perspective of potential water supply quality and in premise of not using the tap water as water supply. 8 sampling analysis have been conducted from April to November 2013, and 7 representative sampling points have been set, and have monitor the aquatic environmental factors of this area for a long time, including pH, temperature, total suspended solids, chemical oxygen demand, turbidity, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, ammonia nitrogen and fecal coliform, chlorophyll a and phytoplankton, etc. At the same time, enclosure experiments have been conducted in the artificial lake and watercourse of the study area as a micro baths to simulate the water changes. Besides, monitor and prediction of the evaporation capacity, study of point and non-point source pollution, and study of mangroves have been conducted to make quality evaluation of the water environment in the study area, and provide basis of water supply improvement. The study shows that:(1) The evaporation of proposed location to build the coast baths is 4.6 mm; The TN,TP accounted 60.2%, 68.2% respectively according to the analysis of the study of the point of non-point source pollution in artificial lake, are the main source.(2) The concentration of fecal coliform in artificial lakes, watercourse and barricading water in each month all meet the Environment Quality Standards for Surface Water(GB3838-2002) of class III, analysis of planktonic algae identified bacillariophyta, chlorophyta, cryptophyta, cyanophyta, euglenophyta, pyrrhophyta, 28 genera, and the chlorophyta accounted for 46.4% of all.(3) According to the synthetic evaluation of monitoring index of the 5 kinds of factors, the water quality of 6 kinds water body around the proposed location of coast baths are as the follow orders from the fine to poor: artificial lake enclosure > artificial lake > artificial lake add nitrogen enclosure > watercourse enclosure > watercourse add nitrogen enclosure > watercourse.(4) The quality of watercourse water is the worst among the 6 kinds water body. Simple precipitation method cannot reduce TN and COD effectively, at the same time, the water in watercourse that is a closed system can breed ground for algae easily and cause water turbidity.(5) Generally, the water quality of artificial lake is good, but TP and COD exceeding 28% and 21.5%. It can meet the standard after enclosure treatment except November. In barricading state, cladophora will attach to the wall to breeding but had no big effect on water quality during October to November.(6) The purification efficiency of water in demonstration experiments proves that the watercourse water to supply into the artificial lake, will meet the Environment Quality Standards for Surface Water part of class III water quality parameters though the artificial lake ecosystem 1 day later, and extending to 3 days later in autumn.(7) To improve the water quality of the artificial lake as the coast baths water source, the program can be taken in to account that is to construct buffering strips and plant more mangroves to improve the watercourse quality before entering artificial lake, or strengthen its water ecosystem function of artificial lake, or take the water retreatment of the artificial lake.
