The storage capacity of high quality quartz sand is very limited in our country, which can hardly meet the demand for the production of ultra-white glass, one important issue of industrial production is how to purify ordinary quartz sand to high-quality quartz sand.Improving the quality of quartz sand is acturally a substantial removal of impurities in the quartz minerals except Si O2, so that the fineness of quartz sand can reach to the requirement of industrial production, the main impurity is iron as for ultra-white glass.Song Ling sand as the research object in this paper, Using mixed acid leaching method for the purification of quartz raw materials,the content of Fe impurity droppe below to 80 ppm or less.Research is divided into the following areas:(1) The use of orthogonal design method to study the amount of acid mixture ratios on the Fe impurities removal of quartz sand;(2)The effect of acid leaching time on the quartz sand to remove Fe impurities;(3) The use of ultrasound for the effect of Fe impurities removal in the quartz sand;(4) Calcination treatment on the effect of Fe impurity removal in the quartz sand;(5) The influence of magnetic Fe impurities of quartz sand removal. Experiments using atomic absorption method to detect the contents of the impurities of Fe in quartz sand, with the standard screen on the original sand granularity analysis, X-ray diffraction phase analysis and SEM-EDS morphology and element analysis was carried out on the processing of quartz sand.The results showed : Under the condition of ultrasonic and stir, at 50 ℃ mixed acid,the best volume ratio of acid leaching are acidⅠ:acidⅡ:acid Ⅲ = 8: 7: 1:00, After dealing with23 h Fe content of quartz sand to 60.2 PPM; After 470 ℃ calcination and incubated 1h, and then the mixed acid treatment 2h,the Fe impurities of quartz sand to 53.3 PPM, greatly shorten the production cycle; At the temperature of 20 ℃, due to the low activity of mixed acid, on the premise of magnetic separation and calcination, Fe impurities down to 54.9ppm.
