Tool is one of the most important position in metal cutting processing, cutting edge form and the quality directly decides the machining precision and quality. Therefore, the study of tool cutting edge has very important significance. Cutting tool edge passivation as a technology developed in recent decades, the cutting tool industry has been widely recognized and application, the blade and burrs microscopic defects after grinding on the blade edges can effectively reduce and eliminate by this technolog, make the edge forming the circular arc of the curve, increased the strength of the cutting tool, to shorten or eliminate early wear of cutting tool machining stage; At the same time,the cutter surface also be polished, to reduce roughness on the surface of the cutting tool, improved the cutting performance and prolong the service life of cutting tools.Machining thread by tapping has always been one of difficult processing operations, the processing environment is extremely adverse, because in the process of machining, tap is fully into the workpiece material by tapping, cutting fluid can not effectively play its role, At the same time, the processing hole of internal threads is by tap cutting tooth out step by step, so the tap cutter to undergo severe wear and thermal deformation, so the tap processing life is generally short.In this paper, taking W6Mo5Cr4V2 HSS finished tap for the study, the effects of cutting tool edge passivation parameters and its life are studied, to improve tap cutting performance and prolong the service life of tap.Paper main research content includes:(1) Using electrolytic strengthening technology for passivation of tap, the tap passivating cutting edge radius value can be manufactured by controlling different strengthening technology parameters.(2) Taking H13 mold steel as examples respectively, by the tapping of passivation treated tap test obtain the best passivation radius.(3) comparison the wear patterns and morphology by optimal passivation of blunt round radius taps and unpassivation tap,in order to research the change trend.(4) The tap v-T curves and durability of the empirical formula of the optimized cutting tapping acquired by the cutting test(5) The wear curve drawing by the without passivation and optimal blunt round radius of tap, the change rule of wear in the processing obtained.(6) The cutting force experimen with the parameter optimization after passivation tap and the unpassivation tap, research and analysis the change trend and regularity in the process of tapping.This topic research is supported by“Manufacturing Theory and Technical Study Which Geared to the Needs of Multiple Quality Characteristics Integrated Control HSS Tap” national natural science foundation of China, the project number is:51275333.
