| Hollow fabrics originated in Europe, it has a long history and rich cultural connotations. Meanwhile, it has a broad development space in the art form. As a unique design language used in various artistic fields such as apparel, flexible packaging, hollow fabrics itself with the beauty of materials, colors, patterns, texture, and many other factors.These various beauties form differences in visual feeling, making the applications of hollow fabrics in modern apparel design appear a variety of styles and features.This paper attempts to summarize the applications of hollow fabrics at different times,different styles of design, and combining with model of classification and comparison to make systemic theoretical research on hollow fabrics, by generalizing and analyzing the history and styling features of hollow fabrics. To begin with, i expounded the basic definition and meaning of hollow fabrics, distinguished confusing words clearly; and then introduced the developing course of hollow fabrics in the east and west, told about the origin, prosperity, development. Thirdly, analyzed the features of hollow fabrics,summarized the factors affecting the artistic effect of hollow fabrics, dig deep into the characteristics and rules appearing from the manufacturing process of hollow fabrics using different yarns, structures, crafts, with the experiments by my own. Finally, applied the theory to design a series of women wear, explaining the meaning of hollow fabrics applying to the modern apparel.Author is concerned with the artistic manifestation of hollow fabrics, work on interpretation of association between hollow fabrics and modern apparel, to make the culture of hollow fabrics fit into the trends in contemporary apparel, and open up a new mindset and significant reference at the same time. |
