Carbon fiber and carbon fiber composite material is a kind of extremely versatile resin matrix composites. It is a strategic high-tech fiber material, which has high strength, fatigue resistance, high temperature resistance, thermal conductivity, and electric conduction. At present, comparing with similar foreign products, the quality of domestic carbon fiber is not so good, and in the course of weaving carbon fiber cloth, it is prone to be fluff, adhesion, breaking and so on, which puts forward a new research subject to domestic carbon fiber cloth weaving technology. The performance requirements of the carbon fiber cloth weaving of rapier loom has improved further.In this paper, the spatial linkage weft insertion mechanism of rapier loom will be researched and optimized by virtual prototyping analysis technique, in the way of mechanical system analysis, combining finite element analysis(FEA) and 3D modeling techniques, and in addition, the rapier loom is development in the direction of high speed and light quality, which can be included as follows:(1) 3D modeling software is used to establish the spatial linkage weft insertion mechanism model and to do the simulation analysis. Comparing with the carbon fiber cloth weaving of rapier loom, modifies the model for many times until the simulation movement is in conformity with the actual rapier loom.(2) Virtual prototyping analysis software is used to establish the spatial linkage weft insertion mechanism physical model and do the simulation analysis, gaining the simulation result curves including force of important part, motion torque, and rapier position, velocity, acceleration and so on.(3) Then FEA software is used to check the stress of space-rocker and plane-rocker, and optimize their structure according to the result of simulation analysis, which descends the weight of parts efficiently, improves the dynamic performance of weft insertion mechanism and gains the parts of weft insertion mechanism benefitted to high-speed loom.(4) Using modal analysis module of FEA software to do the research on the pedestal, and optimize its structure according to the result, which improves the stiffness of the pedestal and is advantageous to the lower vibration and noise of the machine.
