With the development of steel, glass and other high temperature industries, magnesia ceramic high temperature because of its good performance is widely used in these industries. However, due to ionic bonding characteristics make it the melting point of magnesium reached 2800 ℃, resulting in generally higher sintering temperature magnesium oxide ceramic products, ceramic products in preparation time will consume a lot of energy, and production equipment demanding. Thus without affecting the performance of the premise magnesia ceramic to reduce the sintering temperature is particularly important. This paper studies the start magnesia ceramic sintering performance from both raw materials and additives. First, prepare materials for light burned magnesite, magnesium hydroxide, investigate the effect of temperature and time on the MgO grain growth, and choose the best grain growth temperature and holding time, and as a theoretical basis for the selection of high-purity magnesium oxide materials and add MgF2 preparation magnesia ceramics. By testing bulk density, porosity, hardness, X- ray diffraction, SEM, etc., analysis of different content at different temperatures additive effects on magnesium oxide ceramic sintering properties. The following conclusions: 950 ℃ when the magnesium oxide grain growth rate constant of 6.7669 × 106nm7 / min; magnesia grains at 950 ℃ lower growth rate is faster and more uniform grain growth; 1500 ℃ under MgF2 dosage 3wt% when magnesium oxide ceramics minimal shrinkage sintering under 1600 ℃ promote the best performance, the most complete grain growth during 5wt% MgF2 dosage.
