Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) is an atomic analysis spectroscopy technique. A laser beam focus on the sample target to generate plasma. Material qualitative and quantitative analysis are obtained by plasma spectroscopy. Because of many elements, real-time online, without sample pretreatment, remote monitoring,nondestructive and others advantages, it is widely used in biomedical, industrial detection, space exploration and many fields.Although LIBS technology has its unique advantages in the field of elemental analysis, it is still in the laboratory stage of development. The development of commercialized LIBS analysis instrument is relatively less, and versatility is bad.Because the LIBS technique involves complex laser and material process, laser and plasma interaction, the larger spectral data processing, samples of different matrix, the analysis method of reliability, the preparation of standard sample and so on all, the LIBS technology development needs unceasing exploration from these aspects. Based on the above background, this article is in view of the LIBS in rapid detection of traditional Chinese medicine analysis. The problems in the research is mainly focused on the stability of spectral signal under the conditions of different focus; The study found that the stability of the plasma spectrum signal is best and under the same laser energy spectrum intensity is strongest when the laser focus is located in the target surface under 3 mm. In addition, the LIBS spectrum data automatic is investigated about Chinese herbal medicine LIBS spectrum which the substrate composition is relatively complex. Based on the modularized program design idea, we set up module chart of the whole data processing, and put forward to find the peak spectral preprocessing, so as to extract the spectral information. We design the data processing module program by the modularized program design idea. The spectral smoothing pretreatment procedures is designed by The least squares, The Percentile Filter, The Savitzky- Golay and The adjacent- averaging method; We use the local maximum,Savitzky- Golay differential characteristic, matched filter and covariance method to design the spectrum peak found program; And based on the NIST atomic spectrum data in the database, design the line ownership classification procedures. The procedure is able to find the form good spectrum peaks, and also have betterrecognition ability to weak and overlapping peak.We selected five kinds of Chinese medicinal materials such as Oriental waterplantain, Curcuma Zedoaria, Radix Trichosanthis, Tall Gastrodia Tuber and Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrac. LIBS experiment was carried out. We used our design program to have a rapid analysis of the above the LIBS spectra of traditional Chinese medicinal materials. We got the relative content of trace elements. The research can provide reference for the LIBS technique application in the field of traditional Chinese medicinal materials.
