The malodorous gases are the major pollutants of the atmospheric environment, these gases with a pungent odor make people unpleasant, damaging living environment, even more will affect people’s health. National emission standards for odor pollutants GB14554-93 provides eight odor pollutants that are ammonia, trimethylamine, hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, carbon disulfide and styrene. In this paper, four sulfur compounds of methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide and carbon disulfide were separated and detected. A rapid heating device was designed to achieve miniaturization of the column temperature, and the surface acoustic wave sensor was used to detect the separate gases.In this paper, the principle of gas chromatography was analysised. Based on the GC-7980 gas chromatograph separate the four components, to explore the best separation conditions. There are columns which are the TM-5 capillary column, PEG-20 M capillary column, TM-PLOT U capillary column, MXT®-1301 metal column, Rt-Silica BOND PLOT capillary column with five different types of stationary phase separation column, for different columns, using of different pre-column pressure and different heating methods to separate and detect the mixture. To obtain the optimal separation conditions. 25 m long Rt-Silica BOND PLOT capillary column was achieved a rapid separation of the mixture components, the separation time is 6.283 minutes and the value of the minimum resolution is up to 2.675 with a good separation performance.In order to miniaturize the heating of the column, a 98 mm in diameter, 48 mm in height and 1mm thick aluminum metal ring has been designed. Wrapped around the armored heating wire in the ring, using temperature control module effectively replaces the conventional chromatograph oven heating’s function, successfully separated the methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, and carbon disulfide in 2.88 minutes. Reducing the volume occupied by the column oven and the consumption of power. Provided a guarantee to the development of a portable gas chromatograph.In this paper, taking the use of surface acoustic wave device instead of the chromatograph detector FPD to detect the separated gas, successful detected the dimethyl sulfide, carbon disulfide, dimethyl disulfide three components by liquid injection,and all the response are above 1000 Hz, with failing to detect the methyl mercaptan gas. In this paper, a portable gas chromatograph device was been integrated. Using of the device includes sampling device, carrier gas, column oven, column and surface acoustic wave sensors to detect the gases. Provided a useful exploration for the development of the portable gas chromatography detection system.
