The treatment of steel pickling waste liquor is one of the major problems with which enterprises are confronted. This paper studies the methods of processing steel pickling waste liquor to make it profitable, and proposes a set of comprehensive utilization of steel pickling waste liquor:Fe3O4 magnetic particles prepared by air oxidation for printer toner.The morphology and structure of Fe3O4 prepared by FeCl2, FeSO4 and the steel pickling waste liquor have been analysed by SEM, TEM, Granulometer and X-ray Diffraction. The results indicate that the coercivity of the product made by steel pickling waste liquor is the lowest; Fe3O4 made by FeSO4 has the best morphology and dispersion.In this paper, the effect of many factors on magnetic properties has been discussed, including the adding order of ingredients, reaction temperature, pH, the kind and concentration of alkali, Oxidation Ratio, additive, N2, Zn, Mn, P, oxidation method. The results show that:the optimum reaction condition is pH=7.0, best temperature is 85-90℃, adding 7.5 mol/L NaOH solution to Fe2+ containing solution is the right adding order of ingredients, end the reaction when Oxidation Ratio reaches 1.99; introduction of nitrogen assures better purity; Fe3O4 prepared by ammonia has higher coercivity and lower saturation magnetic intensity, compared to Fe3O4 prepared by NaOH solution; adding too much dispersant makes much smaller particles; the addition of Zn can reduce the coercivity of products, adding 4% (mol/mol) Mn can reduce the coercivity and improve ageing resistance, but the addition of P element can make products turn brown or red, which make the products not suitable for printer toner.This paper presents the best technology conditions preparing Fe3O4 magnetic particles by steel pickling waste liquor for printer toner based on the above experimental results and combined with the industrial production.According to the experimental results, amplificate the experiments to ton-class, revise and improve some parameters, amplification experiments prove that the method preparing Fe3O4 magnetic particles by steel pickling waste liquor for printer toner proposed in this paper is feasible. Not only has steel pickling waste liquor been processed to harmlessness, but also get products satisfy the requirements of printer toner indicators.
