| The individual and synergistic effects of Zn(II) and Ni(â…¡) on the performance of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus removal processes, the activities of microorganisms, the activities of enzymes, soluble microbial product (SMP) and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) in sequencing batch bioreactor (SBR) were investigated. There were not synergistic inhibition effects of Zn(â…¡) and Ni(â…¡) on the performance of organic matter, NH4+-N and soluble ortho-phosphorus (SOP) removal processes in SBR. There were obvious synergistic inhibition effects of Zn(â…¡) and Ni(II) on the performance of total nitrogen (TN) removal processes in SBR.There were not synergistic inhibition effects of Zn(â…¡) and Ni(â…¡) on the specific oxygen utilization rate (SOUR), the specific ammonium oxidation rate (SAOR), the specific nitrite oxidation rate (SNOR), the specific phosphorus uptake rate (SPUR) and the specific phosphorus release rate (SPRR). There were obvious synergistic inhibition effects of Zn(II) and Ni(â…¡) on the specific nitrate reduction rate (SNRR) and the specific nitrite reduction rate (SNIRR).There were not synergistic inhibition effects of Zn(â…¡) and Ni(â…¡) on the activities of ammonia monooxygenase (AMO), nitrite oxidoreductase (NOR), exopolyphosphatase (PPX) and polyphosphate kinase (PPK). There were obvious synergistic inhibition effects of Zn(â…¡) and Ni(â…¡) on the activities of nitrate reductase (NR) and nitrite reductase (NIR).There were obvious effects of Zn(â…¡) and Ni(â…¡) on the functional groups, the substance types and the substance concentration in SMP and EPS. But there were not synergistic inhibition effects of Zn(â…¡) and Ni(II) on the characters of SMP and EPS. |
