Phytoremediation is a kind of environmental friendly technology, which can achieve complete remediation with no secondary pollution. It plays a more important role in remediation of the polluted farmland with heavy metal in China compared with physical and chemical technologies. With the increase of application of phytoextraction technique, the evaluation on the remediation efficiency of phytoremediation technology should be concerned. A reliable evaluation method on phytoextraction efficiency becomes more and more important.In this paper, the cases about the application of phytoextraction technique in the farmland polluted by heavy metals were reviewed. Based on many practical applications of phytoextraction in both China and foreign countries, the evaluation methods on the phytoremediation efficiency were summarized including the removal of heavy metal by hyperaccumulation plants, the reduced degree on the concentrations of heavy metal in soil remediated and other aspects, and the advantages and disadvantages about the different methods were discussed. Around the evaluation methods, With Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2008 as the development platform, Are GIS Engine 10.0 as the development component of the systern, and C# as development language, the evaluation system of remediation efficiency based on.NET Platform and Arc GIS Engine was designed and developed by the programming of these methods. The main functions that the system was desired are as follows:①Common functions of GIS, including basic functions of map operations such as enlargement, reduction etc.;②Map editing functions;③Query function;④Evaluation functions on the effect of phyto-extracting remediation.Finally, taking Huanjiang of Guangxi where used of phytoremediation technology in remediating of heavy metal polluted farmland as an example, the result of application based on the system showed that the system worked well and stably. The system interface was friendly, and the results were visual and imaged as well. It achieved the designed goals. This study was finished for the first time at home. It provides a powerful decision-making information service for soil environmental managers, and has the important application value and practical significance.
