Fluvial heavy oil reservoir features drastic changes of lithofacies, strong heterogeneity, and serious steam channeling. affected the effects of oil field development seriously, The characterization of reservoir architecture can provide geologic basis for Prevention of steam channeling such reservoirs.Obeying sedimentological principle, in this paper braid river reservoir are characterized by application of outcrop, core, logging, seismic and performance date in Qigu formation, jiu-8 Area of Karamay oil field. Base on high-frequency stratigraphic correlation, sedimentary facies are identified, features of micro-facies are analyzed, braid river reservoir in close well spacing district are analyzed by consulting outcrop and present deposition, and the impact of reservoir architectural surfaces on steam channeling are also analyzed.The results indict that the deposition of Qigu formation in jiu-8 District is be characteristic of typical braid river, channel bar and channel deposit are main productive sandbodies in reservoir strata. plain, muddy semi-filled channel, and flood clays are primary barriers of fluid flow. There are more lateral barriers which belong to 5th order flood plain and 4th order muddy semi-filled channel in south and west of study area. The flood clays are 3th order interbed, which strongly affects the steam sweeping and steam channeling when the dimension of interbed lay over two or more wells. The relationship among steam channeling, reservoir quality, cyclic steam stimulation, and steam injection pressure are analyzed. Considering the steam channeling is controlled by reservoir quality, the type of potential steam channel are identified and divided, and the position of steam channeling are plotted on borehole. Quantitative criteria of steam channeling in different steam injection pressure that concluded by integrating static and dynamic date with operation parameters, can provide evidences for the prevention of steam channeling an enhanced oil recovery in which jiu-8 Disrict and such reservoirs.
