Aimed at some technical problems of the titanium diboride inert cathode is restricted in industrialized popularization of aluminium electrolyser such as the coated with high cost, the coating is easy to peel and heat curing difficult technical problems. In this study, the authors analyze the industrial application of the traditional titanium inert cathode in the aluminum reduction cell and considering the practical characteristics of the large "static flow pattern" surface cathode aluminum reduction cell, A preliminary experimental study on the application of plasma spray coating and T1B2-C coating was carried out.By using DH-2080(plasma spraying equipment) produced by Shanghai DAHAO nanometer material Co. Ltd., and making carbon block matrix TiB2 coating, the average porosity of TiB2 coating was 12.23%, the average bond strength was 7.63MPa, the average microhardness was 817.6HV, average resistivity was 0.108Ω·cm at room temperature, and the the coating had good test performance. But at present, it is not up to the requirements of industrial application because of the influence of environment, spraying equipment and the cost of spraying and so on by the experiments about the spraying test On the 215# aluminium electrolytic cell.TiB2 (30%), epoxy resin (25%), graphite powder (45%), carbon fiber (1%) and divinylenetramine (1%) were prepared by heating temperature to make TiB2-C coating. The surface of the sample was smooth, the coat was well-distributed, with no bubbles and cracks, the porosity was 13.21%, the resistivity was only 0.4 m calls under electrolysis temperature, bond strength between coating and substrate was 3.10MPa. The coating is less toxic and has little damage to workers, good environmental protection performance and good working performance,A year of industrial test was carried out in the 215# aluminum electrolytic cell. Test cell current efficiency is increased by 0.4%, bottom pressure reduced 46mv, saved electric energy 62787.6 kw · h/years, directly increased economic benefits 249406 yuan/set.In the process of production and practice, two kinds of coating methods, coating method and electric heating type heating device, were developed. Completion of the International’s first demonstration production line with new cathode structure of titanium inert cathode coating, which is high efficiency, safety, economy, energy saving, environmental protection. Since it was produced, created the international leading indicator that unit average comprehensive energy consumption isl2814Wh per aluminum ingot, Which is 665Wh lower than the 13479Wh of 2014,386Wh lower than the 13200Wh of the international advanced value.
