Pipeline transport is major way used for oil and gas transport, it is a significant role in the oil industry. At present, the total length of long distance gas transmission pipeline in the world was about 2 million km. But in china, the overall length of pipeline was less 20000km, it was less than 1% of the world’s total length. China’s oil reserves and oil production are ranked fifth in the world. Therefore compared with China’s economic development, the construction of the pipeline is relatively backward, and can not adapt to the requirements of economic development, it still has more potential for improvement. At same time, the problem of technology reliability, security, risk and economy for our oil and gas pipeline transportation is a great challenge. When constructing new pipeline and operating present pipeline, the security, reliability and economy must ensured.Through consulting a large number of literatures, the pipeline operation status, embattling mode and gathering and transferring process, gathering system energy consumption and gathering system problems of Yanchang Petroleum Company are summarized and analyzed detailedly. The basic principle of pipeline risk assessment and the analysis of the concept, basic method and general analysis process are analyzed and discussed, the Kent Muhlbauer scoring method is focus on. Used Kent scoring method, the risk assessment of oil pipeline project of Ansai-Yongping has carried. The relative risk numbers of this oil pipeline project are analyzed quantitative. According to the evaluation results, the risk factors of high risk sections of the pipeline system are analyzed, and some advice about risk management is puts forwarded. For pipeline leak detection system, the design principle of ground penetrating radar (GPR) system and the overall index system parameters of GPR are analyzed detailed. Combining the operation reality of Yanchang Petroleum Company, the oil pipeline leak detection method is proposed, the main design of the test methods, the principle of the design of the specific steps are analyzed and discussed detailed, and the theoretical basis and technical support of pipeline risk assessment are provided for Yanchang Petroleum Company.
