Large pitch thread are widely used in manufacturing equipment such as large presses and heavy machine tools, which plays important roles such as fastening, connection, regulation and transfer power. When processes such parts, it requires higher requirements for wear resistance performance and service life of tool left-right cutting edge. Existing the assessment of the tool flank face wear width and the calculation method of cutting tools’ service life could only reveal the average nature of tool wear followed the transformation cutting stroke but couldn’t reveal the inhomogeneity of the tool flank face wear width along the cutting edge length direction. So in this way, there would be a big deviation for calculate tools’ service life and it is difficult to obtain the cutting tools with the high wear resistance performance and excellent cutting process scheme.To eliminate the principle errors of radial stratified cutting large pitch thread, this paper has proposed axial stratified cutting method. By the turning large pitch thread tool wear experiment, it has achieved the turning big pitch thread tool wear morphology. This paper has revealed the tool wear effect on thread machining surface. Using the tool cutters wear and cutting edge blunt round radius measurement data, it has studied tool wear condition dint heat load change characteristics, in order to further reveal the tool cutting load and the interaction relationship between the tool wear.According to the analysis result of left-right cutting edge blade force, it has finished the experiment tool design and puts forward about the blade wear experiment method. Combining with turning big pitch thread tool wear experiment, the paper has revealed about alternating axial stratification in the process of cutting big pitch screw, left and right rear tool surface wear difference and its influencing factors.According to the distribution diversity which along cutting edge direction of tool flank face wear. The paper has studied the measurement method of tool flank face wear width, and constructed its distribution function. It quantitatively described the differences of tool flank face wear width distribution, which caused by different cutting edge structure and tool-industrial contact relationship. Using left-right cutting edge equal stroke tool wear experimental data, to get tool flank face wear width characteristic, which is changing with the change of cutting edge position and the increase of cutting stroke.In order to solve the problem of shortening the cutting tools’ service life and the processing quality reduction caused by the tool wear inhomogeneity. This paper has studied the means of testing cutting tools’ performance and the optimization between tools and process plan. In addition, on the basis of the turning trapezoid thread tool wear process experiment, it has put forward the large pitch thread axial stratified cutting design method. Furthermore, it has obtained turning large pitch thread finishing machining process scheme and verifies it with experiment.The inhomogeneity analysis, measurement method and process planning method of tool wear which proposed by this paper, are helpful to improve wear resistance and service life of the tool.
