This article described the synthesis, application of acrylic acid and analysed the current status of acrylic acid production industries and the current status of plants, which products were acrylic acid. Vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for water+acrylic acid, water+acetic acid and acrylic acid+acetic systems have been experimentally determined, which showed thermodynamics consistency,and all equilibrium data were fit with interrelated thermodynamic method. The results of simulation also have been illustrated.Simulation and optimization of the process of acrylic acid oxidation and absorption unit has been researched with Aspen Plus software, which is a chemical engineering process simulation software, it can realize the optimization, sensitive analysis and economic evaluate for process. The quench tower has been more deeply optimized. The effect of operating parameters such as theoretical number, recycle stage, top temperature of the tower, distillation rate on the energy consumption and product purity have been researched, in order to get the optimization of technological process. Combined with the new technology of gas recycling, the existing equipments have been reformed and the bottleneck equipments in the process were determined. According to the new process conditions and the simulation data for process, the improvement scheme was put forward.Finally, from an economic point of view, the cost of the required investment in equipment, energy and material consumption for the process were compared with the original process, the new scheme can reduce the output cost of acrylic acid and has a good application value.
