This paper aims at researching on parameters of flexographic plate making of textbooks printing. Took measurements of printed proofs density and dot area under different conditions while using 12 kinds of paper, 4 color water-based ink, 4 kinds of plate and 2 types of tape for sample testing. Used the cubic spline interpolation method fitting for the dot area, and obtained its inverse function, so as to get the dot gain compensation curve. And then the rule could be obtained about the influence of dot gain and dot gain compensation based on different printing materials.The results as follows: 1. The dot gain of coated paper expands much more serious than the dot gain of uncoated papers in the same distance between plate roller and impression cylinder and the use of 400 lpi anilox to print proofs, and particularly in the range of 40%~75%. 2. It is suitable for printing textbooks with rich tone information to use the hard and thin plate with medium density tape together with the uncoated paper as substrate and environmental water-based ink. 3. Different tone range in the plate needs different dot gain compensation. Dot gain compensation is larger in the middle tone(40%~60%), and relatively smaller in the shade(70%~90%) and highlight(10%~30%). 4. The dot area under 5% needs to be expanded in the process of plate making in factory.It can help improve the printing quality of textbooks, and provide the theoretical guide for the factory by researching on parameters of flexographic plate making of uncoated paper printing.
