After years of production, many oilfield had been step into high water cut stage in the world.Old oilfield in china had also entered into the high water cut stage and there is no moer new area to exploration and development, where advanced technology methods is needed. Steadily mining old fields become a problem to be solved, therefore it is necessary for old oilfield to study the remaining oil distribution and exploration direction.Residual oil distribution evaluation has been summed up in this paper. On the basis of oilfield development geological theory and YaoDian oilfield development present situation, it has been cleared about the problems existing in the current oilfield production. Gological structure and reservoir characteristics analysis had been to block reserves abundance, to calculate single well controlled reserves and to define the recoverable reserves in each layer. Finally, according to the degree of enrichment of remaining oil,it had been divided into three types of potential area. The results show that the former two types of remaining oil potential area recoverable reserves is the enrichment of concentration, which is the optimal object area is the future exploration. The third type of the area is characterized by distribution which is large, accounted for 77% of all YaoDian area, but the degree of enrichment is lesser, and small, so it will be the crucial area to conquer in the future. It is pointed out the direction and future development of YaoDian oilfield in this residual oil distribution evaluation. At the same time,it also has a certain value in the ordos basin, where is low permeability, low abundance, low saturation and high water cut.
