In this paper, the modified bentonite with Ethyl (double octadecyl dihydroxyethyl ammonium chloride) and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate was prepared. The adsorption properties of modified bentonite for malachite Green and methylene blue has been studied, and the effects of adsorbent dosage、adsorption time、initial pH value of solution、temperature and initial concentration on adsorption are investigated. The adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherm of Modified Bentonite on two kinds of dyes were analyzed. It shows that when the adding amount of Ethyl (double octadecyl dihydroxyethyl ammonium chloride) and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate is 0.25CEC and 0.75CEC, the bottom layer spacing of modified bentonite will be widened from 1.23nm to 2.16nm. The modified bentonite has strong adsorption ability for malachite green and methylene blue. Through the research adsorbent dosage, adsorption time, initial pH, temperature and initial concentration of dye on adsorption effect, we found that the influence of adsorbent dosage and the adsorption time is the main factors. Compared with quasi first order kinetics model and particle diffusion model, quasi secondary dynamics model can depict the adsorption process of modified bentonite for malachite green and methylene blue. The adsorption process are better according with the Freundlich adsorption isotherm for malachite green and methylene blue.
