Small-size cast explosive has well adapted to the development trend of intelligent and miniaturization of high-tech weapons. It provides theoretical and practical guidance for investigation of small-size cast explosive design and riches the selection of small-size booster explosive. Moreover, small-size cast explosive can also offer based support for tiny explosive train to make detonating network miniaturization, accuracy, and complication. Thus, the security, reliability, and damage efficiency of micro weapons ammunition will improve significantly.DNP and CL-20 are selected synthetically as the cast explosive carrier and high-energy component through the experiment of melting point, flash point, and compatibility. Additionally, the effect of particle distribution and solid content of CL-20 on the suspension casting viscosity are analyzed. Result shows that the optimum ratio is DNP:CL-20 = 45:55.Molecular dynamics(MD) simulation is employed to investigate the intermolecular interaction of explosive cast process. And the binding energy and mechanical property of different ratios of CL-20/DNP cast explosive are simulated and calculated. Results suggest that the binding energy and comprehensive mechanical property can become larger when the CL-20: DNP is equivalent to 3:7. Then CL-20 and DNP have the larger intermolecular interaction and mechanical property. These results provide the theoretical guidance for cast explosives formula design in this paper.The effect of pouring temperature, casting speed, template temperature, and condensation of charging quality are analyze by the orthogonal design(4 factors and 3 levels). Result indicates that pouring temperature of casting process is 85°C. Casting speed is 1.5cm/s. Template temperature is 85°C. Condensation method is vacuum slow condensation.Theoretical and experimental are combined to analyze the performance of cast explosive. Results show that the charge density is 1.834~1.840g/cm3 measuring by gravimetric method, and theoretical detonation velocity is 8871.8m/s. The cast explosive has passed the performance testing, which the identification of the impact sensitivity is qualified. The cast explosive also have good vacuum stability. Its detonation diameter is less than or equal to 0.7mm. Its detonation critical corner is equal to or greater than 30°.
