This investigation focuses on the physical aging, liquid fragility and glass forming ability (GFA) in Ce-Ga-Cu metallic glasses and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to measure primary experiments. The physical aging has a closely connection with glass transition in nature, which is useful to understand glass transition and a basic issue in amorphous physics. The physical aging in Ce-Ga-Cu metallic glasses was explored by conducting experiments on the abnormal endothermal peak phenomenon. Liquid fragility has important value on the study of the glass transition, structural relaxation phenomenon and the glass forming ability. Moreover, thermodynamic fragility and kinetic fragility were obtained through VFT fitting and heat capacity measurement in this work. The results were analysed to learn the relationship between thermodynamic fragility and kinetic fragility. The glass forming ability is the essentiality project in the application and development of metallic glasses. The relationship between GFA and various parameters were discussed from qualitative and quantitative analyse. It was discovered that there are many parameters which don’t have good relationship with GFA in Ce-Ga-Cu metallic glasses. Nevertheless, the quantitative correlation between them also cannot be described by the previous function suggested by Oleg N. Senkov or the equation suggested by Li-Min Wang which contain seveal parameters. This work proposed an improved version which can better describe the relationship between m, ΔSm,γ and the critical cooling rate for glass formation (Rc) for the present Ce-based strong glass forming liquids and other eleven glass forming families. The results contribute to further comprehension of the nature of GFA and the different influence of all the parameters related with GFA in metallic glasses.
