Jade, a kind of natural rock mineral material, has won the public favorite for thousands of years. As a kind of accessory, the Jade bead need to be drilled a hole.Although there are a variety of equipments for jade drilling, the jade is really difficult to be processed because it’s very hard and brittle. Currently, most jade drilling equipments are operated by the worker, which results in terrible environment,low security and low processing efficiency and other defects. This paper intends to design an economical and practical automatic jade drill machine to achieve the manufacturing processes of jade beads being totally automatic.The main contents are shown as follows:Based on the Rock mechanics theory, the main reason for rock destruction is analyzed.Based on the Rock mechanics theory, the main reason for rock destruction is analyzed. Moreover, the analysis of the main factors affecting the rocks mechanical properties are carried out, providing theoretical direction for jade drilling process condition.The theory of Rock drilling is derivated. analyzing the correspondence between the Rocks constant WOB and rotational speed during the drilling process, determining the appropriate drilling speed range as the experimental speed range.The jade beads drilling jig is designed and manufactured. carrying out the experiment under the constant WOB drilling condition on jade beads. Based on the experimental data, the analysis of experimental optimum combination of feed rate and the speed of the drill bit has been figured out, providing experimental guidance for selection of components.the key component of jade automatic drilling machine is designed. Completing components selection based on the calculation results. Afterwards, the virtual modellng and assembly of the dirlling machine is implemented. In order to avoid design errors, the gap between the assembly models is checked. Finally, finite element analysis on important parts and bearing parts is carried out to make sure the strength and reliability of life.According to drilling steps of jade beads, this project conducts sequential designs for each component work process. the jade drilled process is simulated and analyzedwith NX8.0 software avoiding the interference between components that caused by the unreasonable design.The pneumatic control circuits of the machine is designed With the completion of pneumatic components selection. Simultaneously, based on the working sequence, the paper designs the PLC(Programmable logic controller)Ladder diagram is designed,then PLC simulator is adopted to simulate the control process. The feasibility and correctness of experiment can be identified.
