TiO2 based metal oxide microspheres are widely studied due to their outstanding properties and potential applications. However, their fabrication and structure tuning often rely on the critical conditions, which is difficult for their mass production. These shortcomings limited their application areas. In our paper, we introduced a facile and low-cost method to fabricate TiO2 based metal oxide microspheres and tune their structural hierarchy, this method can be used as a powerful synthesis tool for its industrial mass production potentials. We also made some research and exploration in the applications of the prepared samples.1. We introduced a novel method to fabricate TiO2 based metal oxide microspheres with spherical hierarchical structure, including two-components of TiO2/ZnO, TiO2/Fe2O3, TiO2/ZrO2; multi-components of TiO2/ZnO/Fe2O3, TiO2/ZnO/ZrO2 and TiO2/ZnO/Fe2O3/ZrO22. We tuned the structural hierarchy of TiO2 based metal oxide microspheres by post-processing method, obtained the three-level hierarchy of TiO2 microspheres.3. We have studied the formation mechanism of TiO2 spherical hierarchy by using the way of controlling variables, exploring the effect of ball milling time, desperation time, desperation temperature, etc, on the morphology of TiO2 microspheres.4. We have researched the applications of TiO2 based metal oxide microspheres in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), photocatalytic degradation, as well as self-cleaning coating.
