Due to some potential in storage and utilization of solar energy, photocatalytic converters and pollution treatments, semiconductor materials have been paid many attentions. Especially, TiO2 was attracted because of its high catalytic activity, good stability and low cost advantages. This paper focused on the synthesis and photocatalytic properties of TiO2-based composite nanomaterials, the main contents are as follows:1. Under acidic conditions, tetrabutyl titanate and P25 were used as the titanium source and TiO2 with different morphologies was synthesized by hydrothermal approach. The products were characterized by SEM, XRD and DRS. The photocatalytic performance of the produced samples with different morphologies was studied.2. The urchin-like titanium dioxide nanomaterials was used as substance to produce Ag/TiO2 composite nanoparticles due to its high photocatalytic performance. The sample was characterized by SEM, XRD, DRS and other means. Xenon lamp simulated sunlight was a light source to irradiate the samples before and after loaded for comparison of their photocatalytic activity. The results show that the photocatalytic performance of Ag/TiO2 composite has been improved compared to single TiO2.3. In order to enhance the photocatalytic activity of Ti O2 significantlly, spindle-like TiO2 was synthesized under alkaline condition and spindle-like Ag/TiO2 composite was also synthesized based on it. The photocatalytic performance of composite was compared with that urchin-like Ag/TiO2 composite of the above chapter. It was found that the photocatalytic performance of the spindle-like Ag/TiO2 composite has been improved significantly. For further enhanced the photocatalytic properties, Ag2O/TiO2 composite was synthesized and the photocatalytic performance was compared between Ag2O/TiO2 and Ag/TiO2 composties.
