This paper focuses on the influence of the particle size of the base explosive and gradation of the base explosive on the curing-effect, formability, thermal stability, mechanical properties and mechanical sensitivity of the HMX based PBX, and the experiment as well as the simulation. has been carried on, By analyzing the experimental results with simulation data, the influence rule of the particle size of the base explosive and the gradation size distribution of the base explosive on the PBX has been revealed.By three kinds of methods, the HMX with different particle size was obtained, and the performance test was carried out. It was observed that the HMX with different particle size are β with the particle size of about 2μm, 50μm and 50μm respectively.And the shape is accord with the experimental expectations. DSC and the mechanical sensitivity indicate that, the thermal stability and the impact sensitivity raised gradually with the increase of the particle size.Six kinds of HMX based PBX were observed with the HMX which is of different particle size. Results indicate that, good curing-effect and thermal stability is get with ratio of particle size150μm/50μm and gradation of the gradation size distribution 2:1. and the impact sensitivity is get with ratio of particle size150μm/50μm and gradation of the gradation size distribution 2:1.The HMX based PBX is achieved with the three kind of HMX which has a better comprehensive performance and with ratio of particle size150μm/50μm. it is concluded that the HMX based PBX is of good curing-effect, and the PBX with the base explosive 3:1 has the lowest elongation. The elasticity modulus of the three kind of the PBX is near, but the HMX based PBX with the gradation size distribution 3:1 has better yield stress, the biggest point load strength and Breaking point load strength.
