In recent years, with the vigorous development of China’s directional drilling techniques,non-magnetic drill collars have been used widely. Meanwhile, the non-magnetic drill collars wear problems has become increasingly prominent, seriously affecting the life of non-magnetic drill collars, but also greatly increased the cost of drilling. Welding metal wear strips on oil drilling, drill pipe is one of the effective measures to reduce wear. However, a variety of metal hardbanding materials currently on the market, are ferromagnetic materials.Such as direct use in non-magnetic drill collars, bound to affect the well trajectory measurement information data.This paper developed a special wear-resistant flux cored wire can be used in non-magnetic drill collars. Adopted a non-magnetic material hardbanding deposited metal component design, optimization; non-magnetic drill collars wear study of the manufacturing process with flux cored wire; non-magnetic drill collars hardbanding flux-cored welding process test; and field test.Compared with the non-magnetic drill collars base metal, non-magnetic drill collars hardbanding 2.58 ~ 3.58 times the wear resistance is increased. Spray non-magnetic drill hardbanding, it can effectively protect the drill to prevent the outer diameter of wear, when wear with thickness of less than 0.6mm, will continue in the original location as required hardbanding spray new hardbanding, for drill collars continue to play a protective role.
