With the development of science and technology and the improvement of modern manufacturing, the surface quality requirements of the products in many manufacturing industries, such as aviation, aerospace, automotive, instrumentation, medical equipment, is getting higher performance requirements. As an emerging parts surface ultra precision machining technology, compared with other processing methods, magnetic abrasive finishing has advantages of flexible, self sharp, adaptive, controllability, without tool wear compensation and so on. The design and development of magnetic finishing equipment has far-reaching significance for the application and promotion of magnetic abrasive finishing technology.This paper for the surface of the micro parts,designs a micro five axis NC magnetic abrasive finishing machine tools which can be digital control, according to the need of the actual processing, select magnetic abrasive and adjust the magnetic induction automatically,and depending on the surface shape of the parts, choose different magnetic pole and scan trajectory.Firstly, after summarizing and analyzing the performance requirements of the magnetic abrasive finishing machine and the overall layout of the existing miniature five axis machine tools, the general layout, micro movement of the machine chain and machine performance parameters were decided. According to the overall layout of the machine,it is divided into spindle drive system, linear feed system, rotary feed system, control system and magnetic abrasive finishing system. Except the control system, every system was carried on scheme analysis and determination, structural design and selection. At last, 3D model of the machine tools was created.In order to verify the rationality of the material and design structure of the machine tools, by using finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench, the created 3D model was simplified and imported into ANSYS Workbench through special interface.Static analysis was carried on the mechanical structure of spindle fixture components to verify the design structure meet the requirements of strength and stiffness. At the same time, the modal analysis of the whole structure was carried out,in order to analyse the inherent frequency and formation structure.Finally, the hardware and software of the machine tool control system were designed.The hardware used “PMAC+IPC” binuclear open control system which easily operate and development. The software selected modular design. At the same time, for differentprocessing modes and the different processing surface, the different human-computer interactive interface and the scanning trajectory were designed.
