China is one of the maint productor of jute and kenaf which is used to produce the gunny bag and the hemp cord. Recently, because of the effect of the synthetic fiber production, the natural fiber market is rather poor than before. This project based on the multipurpose use, based on the property of the knefa, exploring its application on the composite material, the kneaf was broken up into particle, this way can not only improve the fiber’s performance, but also increase the knafe’s space to use, conforming to the state of hemp industry system of multi-purpose development of basic requirements. And it will have a very good development prospect. In this article, the knefa was innovation broken up into particle, the sieve was used to sift the particle diameter about 60 um. To get the fine particle, the ball mill was used to get the 10 um diameter ones. Silane was used to make a surface treatment. The FTIR showed that the hydrophilic group of the surface decreased and the absorption peak of Si-O-Si appeared, which said that the silaen has worked. At a definite temperature, mix the particle and PP in different proportions to produce the composite fiber. Set the single factor experiment to test the effect of the knefa particle to the composite fiber. the single factor experiment was used to test the diameter of the knefa particle, the second draw ratio, the particle’s content, the temperature and the silane’s content’s effect on the composite fiber’s performance. It was showed that the particle diameter about 10 um can improve the composite’s tensile strength, while increasing the second draw ratio can reduce the composite fiber’s tensile strength a little, The WAXD said that as the second draw ratio is increasing, the tensile strength of the composite fiber decreased a little. The tensile strength of fiber increased with the content of kenaf particles in fiber. The optimal content of kenaf particles was 6 %(wt) and the tensile strength increased from 4.42 cN/dtex to 5.84 cN/dtex,by 32.1 % approximately. The XRD test said that adding the knefa particles increase the crystalline of the fiber and the optimal content of kenaf particles was 6 %(wt) and trends was in conformity with the change of tensile strength. The temperature should between 185℃~205℃,The optimal temperature is 195℃ and the tensile strength increased by 8% approximately. The optimal content of silane was 2%(wt) and the tensile strength increased by 10 % approximately. The orthogonal test was also set to check the best way of the melt-spinning.On the basis of single factor experiment, the optimal process of melt-spinning was studied. According to the single factor experiment, the content of knefa particle, the temperature and the content of silane was chosen to design the three factor and three levels orthogonal experiment. The results showed that the optimal content of kenaf particles is 6 %(wt), the optimal temperature is 195℃ and the optimal content of silane is 2%.The contact angle and moisture regain of composite fiber showed that the addition of the kenaf particles improved the hydroscopicity of the fiber. Compared with pure PP, the static contact angle of composite fiber decreased by 40° when 10% kenaf particle was added to PP which showed that the hydroscopicity of the fiber increased. In the dynamic contact angle test, the forward and the backward contact angle of the pure PP fiber is 110.3°and 91°,while the composite fiber with the kenaf particles is 82°and 61°,It said that adding the knefa particles transfer the fiber from surface hydrophobic to surface hydrophily. The moisture equilibrium regain increased from 0.55 % to 1.22 % and absorbing moisture equilibrium regain increased from 0.14 % to 0.39 % when 8 % kenaf particle was added in PP. The addition of the kenaf particles improved the hydroscopicity of the fiber. The FTIR showed that adding the knefa particles increased the hydrophilic group of the composite fiber, which resulting in the improvment of the hydroscopicity of the fiber.
