The liver is the body’s largest organ gland, it is not only involved in digestion and absorption of nutrients, but also participate in a variety of metabolites and biological transformation of heterogeneities and discharge, as well as the body’s immune adjustment process. Liver damage will be caused for many reasons, such as long-term medication, excessive alcohol consumption, environmental pollution,unsafe food, etc. Our country has many patients with liver injury, there are more than1 million people that are threatened with liver injury. The average age of liver disease patients is about 40, who are mostly the elite of society, shouldering the huge responsibility of society and family, liver disease makes them very painful.Corn oligopeptide(COP) is low molecular weight peptides derived from corn gluten meal by enzymatic hydrolysis. In recent years, researchers have found that some proteins have no physiological activity or activity is very low, but the hydrolysis of peptide have significant physiological activity. The various functional properties of COP have been described previously, such as elevation suppressing,anti-fatigue,antioxidant, inhibition of tumor, etc. But there was no systematic study on hepatoprotective function of COP. The protective function on both a cellular and a animal level was studied. Details are as follows:(1) The research about the protective effect of corn oligopeptide on alcohol-induced WB-F344 cell damage. In this study, the cell viability, the activity of AST、ALT、SOD and the content of MDA were determined. The change of apoptotic cell nucleus will be observed through Hoechest33342. In addition, Apoptosis proteins expression will be tested by western blot. The result found that corn oligopeptide can prevent WB-F344 cell against alcohol-induced damage.(2) The research about the protective effect of corn oligopeptide on alcohol-induced liver damage in mice. We have already known that corn oligopeptide can prevent WB-F344 cell against alcohol-induced damage in vitro level.This chapter the protective effect of corn oligopeptide on alcohol-induced liver damage in micewill be studied. Not only the main metabolites and oxidative indexes will be tested,whether corn oligopeptide can suppress liver cell apoptosis induced by ethanol will be emphasized. Results showed that corn oligopeptide can increase anti-apoptosis proteins expression, and decreased the apoptpsis proteins expression. The research provided a new experimental basis for corn oligopeptide product development, it is of great significance to the health of patients with liver disese.(3) The research about the protective effect of corn oligopeptide on CCl4-induced liver damage in mice. We have already known that corn oligopeptide can inhibit the damage caused by alcohol in both mice and cells. This chapter,the classical CCl4 liver damage model will be studied. In this experiment, corn oligopeptide reduced the activity of AST, ALT and the content of MDA, and improved the activity of SOD and GSH-Px. It was illustrated that corn oligopeptide can improve the liver function significantly.(4) Effect of COP on energy metabolism in BRL.The prevetion function of COP on liver disease demonstrates that health people can also have the option to taking in.This chapter mainly discussed the influence of energy metabolism from COP to BRL who grows well,which provides a strong scientific basis for healthy people taking in this product.According to the research of BRL cell number, key enzymes of sugar fermentation solution, mitochondria and ATP level determination.We conclude that COP no longer has no toxicity in a certain concentration range to BRL, but also can reduce cell glycolysis solution level to a certain extent.Meanwhile, COP provide sufficient energy for cells.Consequencely, it can be agreed that COP can prevent liver damage and provide energy for body safely,which will keep body in a good status.In conclusion, corn oligopeptide not only has protective effect on liver injury both in mice and cells, but also provides energy for our body. Corn oligopeptide is a kind of active material with research and development value. It has profound meaning to our lives and health.
