There is a higher request in the quality of forging roll with the progress of rolling technology and the widespread use of heavy duty rolling mill. The residual stress in the process of manufacturing is one of the directly reasons of the roll failure, so the residual stress has a great influence on the quality of roll. The task of this research is using DEFORM software to study and analysis the distribution of stress field, residual stress field and strain field in large rolling forging process. There are three parts in the main research:First, according to the process parameters, establish three different rolling reduction models during forging by WHF method, simulation the effect of the increase of rolling reduction for the stress field, residual stress field and strain field of the forge piece that under the same conditions. The results show that the increase of rolling reduction has little influence on stress field and residual stress field but it has a significant effect on strain field. For more effective forging, an appropriately increase of rolling reduction can be available.Second, according to the process parameters, establish three different feed models during forging by WHF method, simulation the effect of the increase of feed for the stress field, residual stress field and strain field of the forge piece under the same conditions. The simulation results show that the increase of feed has significant influence on stress field, residual stress field and strain field, an appropriately feed should be chosen during forging. Finally, study and comparison the distribution of the stress field, residual stress and strain fields during blank forging process by Center without tensile stress forging method(FM method) and Wide flat anvil high temperature extreme pressure method(WHF method)which are both based on the free forging method. The consequence shows that the two methods can get a similar result in the stress field and residual stress field, but using FM method will get a better internal deformation and it can improve the quality of forgings.
