The forging machine is called radial forging machine. It has high frequency of hammering, large elongation, dissipation of the slow forging and good precise size, but the force of forgings is under the surface, center location quality and transversal mechanical properties of forging are poor. The GFM radial forging machine of Zhongyuan Special Steel Co., Ltd mainly products MPM and other products. Along with the high demand of the product, the question of low performance, poor stability of quality and poor transversal mechanical properties is more and more serious. To solve these problems, the v-blooming hammer for GFM radial forging machine is designed and manufactured and technology rules about forging are made.The traditional forging process procedures of MPM are introduced, the existing problems in the process procedures are analyzed, a design scheme of a v-blooming hammer for the radial forging machine is proposed, and metal flow trends and the deformation zone of using a v-blooming hammer are analyzed. It is found that using v-blooming hammer can increase lateral the flow of the metal, reduce the degree of deformation difference, improve the stress state in the middle part.With Solid Works the geometric models of forging machine’s MPM are built, with DEFORM the forging forming processes of using common breakdown hammer and v-blooming hammer are simulated and the stress-strain state of MPM cross section at the different degree of pressing down. It is pointed out that section deformation difference, the stress state of the center and the degree of pressing down affect the stress state; the deformation degree of forging cross-section’s points are reduced and the stress state of the central region is improved significantly forging with v-blooming hammer.Special forging process procedures of MPM are designed, the parameters are refined, v-blooming hammer is made on the base of ordinary hammer, and production is implemented. Physical and chemical test results show: transversal mechanical properties are improved, forging penetration of forging parts is increased, product quality is improved and the forging morphology is improved by using v-blooming hammer instead of common breakdown hammer.
