The self-lubricating spherical plain bearing is suitable for the field of aerospace, ships and machinery in which the requirements is for simple structure and high load carrying capacity. With the rapid development of different fields, self-lubricating spherical bearings run in harsher and harsher conditions, e.g., heavy load, high frequency, high temperature, and large torque. Therefore, it is urgent to improve the test conditions for them and enhance their friction properties. As a core component of self-lubricating spherical plain bearing, the performance of liner directly determines the service life of the bearing. Therefore, it is very important to prepare a self lubricating liner with low friction coefficient, good wear resistance and the ability to adapt to the extreme environment.In view of the lubrication condition of the spherical plain bearing,the paper puts forward the problems of such as low load capacity, poor thermal performance and so on, which need to be improved. On the basis of studing on solid lubrication, the paper identifies the research route which take the porous metal as matrix, the macromolecular lubricating material as filler and the hot die forming as method of preparation of self-lubricating composite material. On this basis, this paper carried out the research of preparation of inlaid metal matrix self-lubricating composite materials.After the process route of hot press forming was determined, the thermal mould pressing device was developed and the temperature field of the whole heating device was analyzed by the thermal analysis module of the finite element software Workbench ANSYS. Thus itself according to the lubrication material properties and temperature field analysis results, the accurate sintering temperature curve was determined.After the self-lubricating composite of stainless wire and PTFE was prepared, the tribological properties of the composites were designed on the CETR testing machine, and the friction and wear performance evaluation test was made. After the analysis of the test results, the influence of load and speed on the friction coefficient is obtained. On the other hand,the wear was evaluated by the 3D surface measurement instrĪ¼ment GFM to observe the various loads and velocities of surface abrasion morphology. Through the analysis of the two factors variance of the wear data, the primary and secondary relation of load and velocity to the surface of the composite material is obtained.The shows that the obtained polymer lubricating materials as filling agent of stainless steel metal mesh- PTFE self-lubricating composite self-lubricating materials, low friction coefficient, good wear resistance characteristics, the lubricant PTFE, molybdenum disulfide, glass fiber for 16:1:3 ratio, friction coefficient only keep between 0.06 to 0.1.
