With high hardness, low friction coefficient, excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and other properties, Cr2O3 coating are widely used in metallurgy, energy, transportation, textile, petrochemical, machinery, packaging and printing, etc. The direction of this topic in line with high efficiency, high quality, is using high power plasma spraying equipment to deposit high quality and compacted Cr2O3 coating,fast. Under the conditions of improving production efficiency to reduce costs, Cr2O3 ceramic coating is deposited with high performance preparation and practical application.With three kinds of plasma spraying equipment named Metco9 M, F4 MB and three cathode, Cr2O3 ceramic coating is prepared on stainless steel substrate.Using the method of Orthogonal experiment and Range optimization, four parameters of plasma spraying process, such as arc current, arc voltage, spraying distance, feeding amount are optimized, and get the Metco9 M, F4 MB and Triplex optimum process parameters. The influence mechanism of Cr2O3 coating bonding strength is analyzed through the four kinds of technological parameters. By X-ray diffraction(XRD) phase analysis, coating Cr2O3 coating is found no phase change, the same as Cr2O3 powder phase structure. Combined with scanning electron microscopy(SEM), metallographic microscope on the preparation of coating by three kinds of equipment structure, microstructure analysis, it is concluded that the three cathode preparation of Cr2O3 uniform coating structure, coating density, porosity and inclusion to a minimum.Microscopic hardness, bond strength, porosity of three kinds Cr2O3 coating were respectively measured and it is concluded that the three cathode has the highest hardness(1 647 HV0.3), bond strength(37.64MPa) and lowest porosity(3.82%).UMT friction and wear testing machine is used to measure Cr2O3 coating, and it is concluded that it has lower friction coefficient(0.25) and good wear resistance. Through Microscopic morphology observation and analysis of the grinding crack, it is concluded that the friction and wear mechanism of Cr2O3 coating mainly is brittle micro chipping and flat interface unstick of the particles.
