Water gas shift reaction is widely used in the catalytic of ammonia, hydrogen, syngas alcohol and hydrocarbon system in the process as well as the regulation of city gas CO content.Because the CO shift reaction is strongly exothermic,and can adjust the feed gas of hydrogen and carbon ratio, so transform section is a key energy-saving steps of the whole plant.Therefore, it is necessary to simulate and analysis the transform section.This paper firstly discusses the research status and characteristics of three types of the shift catalyst including Fe-Cr high temperature water gas shift catalyst, Cu-Zn low temperature water gas shift catalyst, and Co-Mo sulfur-tolerant wide temperature water gas shift catalyst; secondly, it sums up compared excellences and shortcomings of four kinds of transformation process including medium temperature shift process, medium-low temperature shift process, middle-low-low temperature shift process and totally low temperature shift process; Finally as water gas has some characteristics, such as high gas steam-gas ratio, high CO content and high sulfur content as feed gas, so the QCS-01 type wide temperature resistant sulfur conversion catalyst which was successfully developed by research institute of Shandong Qilu petrochemical company is selected. The process which has some characteristics, such as higher steam/gas ratio, partial shift and totally low temperature shift is used to simulate the whole process for shift section.Based on the simulation results, the sensitivity analysis is made for factors of effecting technical indexs of the shift section, the factors includes transform ratio and the temperature and pressure of transformation furnace.Therefore, the proper parameters range of the technical indexs are obtained and the optimal parameter combination is achieved by using optimization technique.The key equipment of the transformation furnace is simulated by using RPlug plug flow model. In order to reduce the hot spot temperature, the transformation furnace adopts two stage adiabatic reactor and the multi-zone of the transformation furnace is chilled by cold materials. The simulation results are closer to the industrial actual data. Finally, combiningwith actual production, the machinery and equipment of the transformation furnace preliminarily designed.
