Drawworks, which is the core components of the drilling rig, affects the quality, efficiency and cost of well drilling process. The drive type of the traditional drawworks, which is mainly driven by many motors and decelerator, have the shortcomings of bulking dimensions, lower efficiency and the inconvenient in the maintenance.Given that the high-performance winches of deep well and/or ultra-deep well are required urgently by the domestic market of the oil drill rig, In this thesis, a new drawwork with a 7,000 m deep drilling capacity is presented. The main development trend of electric-driven drawworks is introduced firstly. Meanwhile, according to the inner workings of the traditional drawworks and combination the working principle and structure feature of external rotor motor, a new design, which the drawworks is driven directly by the external rotor motor, is put forward. In this thesis, the structure features, design process and main parameters of the drawworks is highlighted. The new drawworks is driven directly by three alternating current(AC) frequency conversion external rotor motors with the properties of low velocity and high torque, and the working speed of that is controlled by Variable Voltage and Variable Frequency(VVVF). The integrated design of the drawworks, without the large accessory parts(such as, gearboxes, clutch and etc), greatly reduces the overall volume of that. Therefore, the usage and the transport of that will become more convenient. The shape of the drive motor, poles number and the magnetic circuits of the rotor are determined by the structure of the drum and the input power of the drawworks. Moreover, the mathematical calculations and software simulation is used in this thesis to analyse the hoisting properties of the drawworks, mechanical properties of the parts and the dynamic properties of the total system. The results indicates that the new drawworks can meet the needs of drilling conditions greatly.In this thesis, the traditional thinking model of the design of drawworks has been a great breakthrough, which inclued the design ideas, general plan, technical feature and structural characteristics. There have high innovation and advancement in the overall structure and properties of the drawworks. Meanwhile, it is also a new single-shaft drawworks driven by electric, which has a good prospects in the future. The overall specifications of the drawwork, which is characteristic of simple structure, light weight, small size, high efficiency and high automaticity, has advanced techniques and lays the foundation for the future study of the drawworks and offers a good technical support to the study of deep well drilling rig drawworks in our country. Moreover, this drawworks can meet the requirements of both land and offshore oil rigs, which improve the properties of drilling rigs in our country and promoting the market competitiveness of our country in the international market greatly.
