Using hydrothermal method.preparation Al O(OH) and Zn O coating precursor on ABOw’s surface.And through the sintering process, Al2O3, Zn O and Zn Al2O4 coating will be made on the whisker’s surface.And add different zinc content in aluminum to make Al-Zn matrix alloy.In order to change the interface bonding state of the whisker and matrix to get the corresponding performance.DSC results show that the Al O(OH) coated decomposition XRD analysis shows that the decomposition product of Al O(OH) isγ- Al2O3. at 870 ℃,Zn O has reacted with the whisker, Zn O and whisker’s reaction product is Zn Al2O4.Metallographic and XRD analysis results show that with the increase of the content of zinc, there will be more and more zinc in aluminum solid solution,and the high Angle of Al phase peak’s position has deviation. The second phase easily segregation at the grain boundaryTEM study found that different from the traditional commercial aluminum alloy who contain magnesium, use our Al-Zn alloy as substrate alloy,the composite material, regardless coating or not.there is no interface reaction between the matrix and the whisker. In composite materials who without coating, enhance body and substrate’s interface is more flat and smooth, the combination of matrix and whisker was more closely.Composite’s damping performance study show that with the increase of the content of zinc, the alloy’s damping performance improved. with the same content of zinc, composite materials who are coating have a better damping performance than that without coating. Mainly because coating makes the interface more easily to slip. In the no-coating composite materials, with the increase of the content of zinc, material’s damping peak moves to high temperature. This is mainly related to solid solution damping mechanism.Room temperature tensile text results show that the tensile strength of matrix alloy increased with the increase of the content of zinc, but its ductility is gradually decline. The tensile strength of composite materials with the increase of content of zinc was first rise then decline. It is ductility is Similar to the matrix alloy.From the heat treatment, we found that solid solution hardening treatment and quench can make more zinc solution to the aluminum lattice. from the heat treatment process, there is no interface react between the enhanced body and the matrix. Composite’s damping performance improved after quenching, but it’s Mechanical properties is fall off, mainly because in the composites, there is many zinc segregation in the interface of the whisker and the matrix,they dissolved during heat,there will be many cavern in the interface during the later quench. composites with furnace cooling is Similar to the casting state. Its damping property is Worse than the quenching state. but the tensile strength is superior to the quenching state.
