With the development of automobiles, aircraft, construction machinery industry, thedemand of gear drives increased. The growing requirement of helical gear processing withhigh efficiency, high-precision and flexible made the research on helical gear CNC machinehot. The transmission mechanism of helical gear slotting machine was studied in this paper.The moving process was analyzed and the equation of motion was gained. The additionalrotation of the slotting process was also investigated, the equation of motion for shaper cutterswas given, simulations were conducted by matlab based on these results, as a result, themotion curve of additional rotation was obtained. Finally, through analyzing the causes ofadditional rotating movement, a servo differential pinion gear machine transmissionmechanism was designed. It was a scalable, rapid response, overload protected and smoothoperation mechanism that could achieve non-contact transfer of force and torque, and hadbroad application prospects. The specific results as follows:(1) Various methods of gear fabrication.A detailed analysis of the main process of gear cutting technology was carried on, andbased on it, the performance requirements and structural characteristics of the CNC slottingmachine was analyzed.(2) Analysis and simulation of the transmission mechanism of the helical gear slottingmachine.According to motion analysis of slider-crank mechanism and double crank - crankslider-six linkage mechanism, the equations of displacement, velocity and acceleration werededuced. And through analyzing the additional rotation of machine, the angle displacement,angular velocity and angular acceleration equations of cutter were obtained. Simulations wereconducted and motion curves of cutter’s rotation were drawn.(3) Detailed analysis on additional rotation of helical gear slotting machine.The spiral types that lead to additional rotation and their performance were analyzed,and found that when the lead of the spiral rail was an integer multiple ofπ, the calculationprocess could be simplified. Based on the analysis of the causes and movement of additionalrotation, the relationship between electric gear movement drive chain and electronicdifferential gear movement transmission chain was obtained,s, a papented servo differentialpinion gear machine transmission mechanism was designed.
