With the development of the automobile industry in our country, industrialrobot is largely used in some dangerous and burdensome work in the automobileindustry, such as spray paint, heat treatment and jointing. With the advantages ofsmall volume and backlash, high rigidity and long working life, RV reducer isthe prime device for industry robot’s transfer arm drive which is the core part ofindustrial robot.This paper researches the design method of RV reducer through analyzingthe kinematics, force and backlash of RV reducer, and designs a certain kind ofRV reducer by using this method. This design mainly includes tr ansmissionscheme design, backlash analysis, structural design, computer three-dimensionalmodeling and engineering drawing.It analyzes the transmission principle and characteristics of RV reducer.And by combining with its design conditions and requirements, it determines thetooth number of RV reducer. Considered the dimension and load distributioncomprehensively, an optimal tooth number is chosen from a dozen of toothmatching schemes. According to gear parameter’s calculation method and thegear geometric dimension calculation formula of RV reducer, the otherparameters of RV reducer’s gear driver are determined.In order to distribute the machining accuracy of the transmission partsreasonably, this paper analyzes particularly how the different factor s of differenttransmission parts influent the output shaft backlash of RV reducer, andestablishes a mathematic model of this influence. Then, through the sensitivityanalysis, the factor that affects the output shaft backlash the most is found. Whendesign the RV reducer, these factors are controlled effectively, and output shaftbacklash is calculated by using the probability statistics. Through abundantadjustment and calculation, the tolerance of the transmission parts is affirmed. Atlast, the output shaft backlash is controlled around60arc sec.This paper not only analyzes how to choose tolerance, materials and heattreatment of the main parts of RV reducer, but also analyzes the RV reducer’sgear force and calculates its intensity. What’s more, the force analysis andintensity check of the most dangerous crankshaft of RV reducer, and selectproper rolling bearings. By using UG to establish a virtual prototype of RVreducer, and checking the rationality of components’ structure for assembly andat last accomplished the engineering drawing of the reducer, finishing the design.
