Sulfate attack is one of the indispensable factors which influence the durability ofcement-based materials. Compared with gypsum ettrignite, and MgSO4solution–crystallization. etc. other traditional sulfate attack,the thaumasite form of sulfate attackis a new founding of new sulfate attack in recent decades, due to the short research time,a great number of issues and phenomenon still are waiting for more explorations andresearch. The reason of the thaumasite form of sulfate attack (TSA) is that the sulphateand carbonate react with calcium silicate hydrate from cement-based materials andproduce the thaumasite (CaSiO3·CaCO3·CaSO4·15H2O) without cementation. With thedecreasing of calcium silicate hydrate,the gelled material will gradually become “mud”.This type of damage not lead to the significant dilation and cracking, it is easy todetection and observation, and a gradual, strength rapidly reduces, disintegrationdestroying form; and this is a more destructive and elusive special type of sulfate attackthan traditional sulfate attack.Especially, there is not a effective detection method for the detection of TSA inacademia, due to, the erosion of TSA is more better shelter than traditional sulfateattack, meanwhile, the erosion of time is more longer, as many as ten years for decadesand no test methods to test.This paper use electric impulse accelerate the TSA andinvolved in the equipment and methods of electric impluse, the etching liquids ofelectric impulse cathode and electric impulse anode and electrical erosion mechanism,emphasis on the research of the test of electric impulse. The results prove that:①The acceleration of metods and equipment for TSA are ensured, especially, theanode electrode materials are ensured that using titanium.②There are very obvious of TSA at120days when using electric impulse andthat electrical parameters are impulse voltage30V and pulse period10S.③There are the best acceleration effect when the Na2SO4solution in electricimpulse cathode and MgSO4solution in electric impulse anode.④Bye the research of electric impluse erosion mechanism, indicate that, electricimpulse can accelerate the SO42-migrate to cement and the speed of eaction.⑤There are necessary for researching the effect of limestone powder in TSA and the change of pH in cement basted materials by electric impulse for further study themechanism of TSA.
