From Experiment To Practice

From the beginning of the21st century, great changes has happened in theconstruction of our country. Foreign architects and architectural technology get intoChina while the local construction culture is get lost. In such complicated situation, suchphenomenon so called experimental architecture is very impressive. These experimentalarchitectures are trying to find the way to express the China modern construction. Theyfight against the homogenization of the global architecture design and the city withoutcharacteristic. The Chinese architect preform much more vivacious because of theappearance of experimental architect and architecture.Aesthetically-pleasing design of architect is achieved through material. The soul ofthe building lies in architectural materials and detail designing. But in the process ofsocial development, social division of labor gradually becomes deeper. Such situationmade “think"(Design) and “do"(Construction) separated during the construction.Numerous of architects in our country don’t have a clear sight of the material, evendon’t want to take the initiative to have a try. In contrast, experimental architects havetheir own answer and exploration about architectural material expressive constructionthrough these experimental architecture.In this context, this paper made generalizations about the material expressionstrategy in experimental building. And discussed the influencing mechanism betweenexperimental and practice. In the end, author discussed the material expression strategyin practical building and use it in material design of the rest house in ChengKou as anexample.
