The wind rotor is an important part of wind turbine. The load from hub centertransmits to the generation system by the connection flange of hub and main shaft. Thereliability of the connection has an important effect on the safety of wind turbine. Itgave a suitable method which could do the designing of flange bolts connection basedon the theory of contact strength analysis. It established the stiffness model of hubflange, and researched the mechanical character of bolts connection, then gave anappropriate simulation method for flange connection. The main contents of the researchare as follows:(1): The analysis and calculation of the flange bolts connection. The stiffness modelof flange was provided after the study of VDI2230Systematic calculation of high dutybolted joints theory. The relation between preload and work load of a bolt was given.The admitted preload was given according to the design calculation, as well as theworking stress of a bolt.(2): The finite analysis of the flange bolts connection. The equivalent stiffnessmodel of the thread fabrication was established according to the study of mechanicalcharacter of thread fabrication. A new simulation method for the FEM analysis of flangewas presente4. The comparison of the new method and others indicates that the new oneis better than others in the FEM analysis of flange.(3): The contact strength analysis of bolts which connect the hub and main shaft.The new method was applied to do the modeling and strength analysis of connectingbolts. The dangerous sections’ stress of bolts was extracted to make a comparisonanalysis and safety check.
