Roller pump is a new type of positive displacement pump, which is not onlyeasy to reach to high pressure like normal positive displacement pumps, but also has alarge displacement and low pulse. The volume of the pump is a combination structureof the plunger pump and the vane pump, which can easily reach to large displacementand has the characteristics of high power density; the method of flow distribution isplane distribution, which decreases this link of the valve shaft and increases life spanand reliability of the pump.The double-acting elliptical orbit roller pump as the research object, hasdeficiency about design methods and characteristic research. The paper do theresearch of output characteristics, dynamic characteristics of motion and flow fieldcharacteristics; and in view of the special working mode of double-acting ellipticalorbit roller pump, the paper put forward a way to change the angle of U-groove foradjusting the pump pulse patterns; finally, a dedicated double-acting elliptical orbitpump characteristics calculation software is designed.The research method of pump output characteristics is based on thecharacteristics analysis of elliptical area and length, deduced the volume formula ofdouble-acting elliptical orbit roller pump, next to, obtained the flowing and pulsatingof the pump. At last through simulating it, the effect of the structural dimensions tothe flowing and pulsating of the pump have been received. Analysis results indicatethat there is a phase difference comparing with radial piston pump and vane pump.The pulsation is reduced with the increasing of rollers’ quantity, but the pulsation islarger with an even number.Kinematics and dynamics characteristics of the pump are established throughkinematics and dynamics model of the pump. Based on the roller motion state andstress, the formula of contact force between the lining of stator and the U-groove hasbeen deduced. Finally according to Hertz contact stress formulas and the pump’s movement characteristics roller contact stress in any position size and distribution arederived.The flow field of U-groove with moving roller is analyzed by using Fluentsoftware. On the basis of the simplified model, the flow field characteristics of liquidin U-groove influenced by moving roller are simulated. Through comparativeanalysis, the effects on the flow field characteristics taken by the size of gap betweenroller and U-groove are deduced.Based on the front of research findings, it is found that the way of changingangle of U-groove can change the pump flow and pulse characteristics. Researchresults show that the angle has a certain practical significance to reduce the pulsationof the roller pump. It is verified that this method is feasible.Finally combining research results of the double-acting elliptical orbit rollerpump output characteristics and kinematics characteristics, the software for thedouble-acting elliptical orbit roller pump characteristics calculation is designed anddeveloped by Matlab/Gui. This software interface is easy to hand. Graphics and dataof characteristics can be gotten after the necessary parameters input by users andstored in the computer.The research method and the result of this thesis can be used as the basis theoryfor the optimized design of the double-acting elliptical orbit roller pump.
