With the advantages of simple structure, high reliability, controllable excitation and high powerdensity, Wound-Field Doubly Salient Machine (WFDSM) has potential in many fields in the future.Also as a generator, WFDSG has great advantage over DSPM for output voltage changes as fieldcurrent changes and it can demagnetize when fault occurs. In the past, researches of WFDSG alwaysfocus on uncontrolled rectifier mode. In this paper, the generating characteristics of controlled rectifiertopology are studied. Based on the research releated before, a new control strategy of combination ofAngular Position Control(APC) and Current Chop Control(CCC) is proposed. Furthermore, based onresearch on generating characteristics of controlled rectifier topology, a new voltage regulationstrategy that is regulating output voltage by regulating the state of switches of power conversioncircuit is put forward, which lay foundation for theoretical research and application.At first, the structure and work principle of a12/8poles WFDSG are introduced in the paper.Build simulation model according to the parameters of the prototype. Then analyze the operatingmode of controlled rectifier topologies proposed by improving the uncontrolled rectifier topologies. Inorder to testify the correctness of theoretical analysis and simulation result, a set of experimentplatform is set up including designing the PCB control board and writing program related.When the open-degree of control signal of switch is quite big, the phase current will increase toohigh, which challenge the security and reliability of the whole system, so that a new control strategycombination of APC and CCC is researched. Analyze the characteristics of this control strategy usedin NSR and BSR respectively and verify with the help of Finite Element Analysis(FEA) simulationand experiments. Datas obtained shows that under this control strategy the output power increaseswhile the system operates within security range allowed.Usually regulate output voltage by regulating the field current in WFDSG system. In thegenerating system with controlled rectifier topologies, regulation of output voltage can be realized byregulating the state of switches of power conversion circuit when field current keeps constant.Therefore a new voltage regulation strategy is studied in the paper to analyze its voltage regulatingperformance, which provides new solution for WFDSG regulator.
