Neutral grounding of the power system is usually based on the voltage level. Thecommon neutral grounding modes used in our country are: direct grounding system,ungrounded system, arc suppression coil grounding system and resistance grounding system.110kV grid and above use direct grounding mode, and6~66kV distribution network usesother modes, now discussion starts at10kV distribution network which is most commonlyused in Guangdong Power Grid Corporation.10kV distribution network neutral grounding is comprehensive issue that covers a widerange. It is not only a technical problem, but also an economic problem. Power system,during normal operation,would not be affected by the different neutral grounding modes andtheir differences. However, the power system would be greatly influenced when a groundingfault occurs in the system. The10kV power distribution network in Dongguan area is usuallyuse arc suppression coil grounding system and resistance grounding system. In the past wemore partial to the arc suppression coil grounding system, which’s disadvantages appearsnow. So we more partial to resistance grounding system through it also has its drawbacks. Infact, arc suppression coil grounding system and resistance grounding system will exist in thefuture for a long period of time in distribution network of Dongguan. The main job of thispaper is:1. Through the analysis of arc suppression coil grounding system and resistancegrounding system, compare the two kinds of grounding system in the electrical quantities ofgrounding fault, and sum up the advantages and disadvantages of the two kinds of differentgrounding modes.2. According to the distribution network structure, material selection, protection setting,equipment maintenance, other factors and some actual case, analysis of the problem of arcsuppression coil grounding system and the small resistance grounding system in the networkof Dongguan.3. According to the logic and the reality, summarize some measures to solve the problemof arc suppression coil grounding system and the small resistance grounding system.4. According to the development of the distribution network, offer some views aboutdistribution network neutral grounding mode selection and its protection setting.
